iPhone Duo Presets and LUTs: How to Edit Photos and Video from Apple’s First Foldable
Share
The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone, and it’s a camera you’ll want to use differently: selfies with the rear cameras, a live preview on the outer screen for the people you’re photographing, and a big 7.6-inch screen for editing. So which presets and LUTs actually suit it?
Short answer: for iPhone Duo photos, use Lightroom presets made for everyday phone photos, like our iPhone Everyday Lightroom Presets. For iPhone Duo video, use LUTs made for standard iPhone video, like the iPhone Cinematic LUTs. iPhone Duo doesn’t shoot Apple Log, ProRes or ProRAW, so Log LUTs and RAW-first workflows aren’t the right starting point for this phone.
- Apple announced iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. Pre-orders start October 16, and it’s in stores from October 23.
- The camera is a 48MP Dual Fusion system: a Fusion Main camera with an optical-quality 2x option, and a Fusion Ultra Wide with macro. There’s no telephoto camera.
- iPhone Duo shoots HEIF and JPEG photos and HEVC or H.264 video. It doesn’t have ProRAW, ProRes, Apple Log or Apple Log 2.
- Photos: the iPhone Everyday Lightroom Presets work on Duo’s HEIF and JPEG files in the free Lightroom mobile app.
- Video: Duo records normal, colorful Dolby Vision video, so the iPhone Cinematic LUTs fit. The Apple Log LUTs don’t.
iPhone Duo camera specs
Here’s what the iPhone Duo camera system brings, and what it means for editing.
- 48MP Fusion Main camera: 26 mm, ƒ/1.6, sensor-shift optical image stabilization, and 24MP or 48MP photos. It also gives you a 12MP optical-quality 2x Telephoto at 52 mm.
- 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera: 13 mm, ƒ/2.2, 120° field of view, plus 48MP macro. It’s the same Ultra Wide as on the iPhone 18 Pro models.
- Zoom: 0.5x, 1x and 2x, with a 4x optical-quality zoom range and digital zoom up to 10x.
- Front cameras: a 12MP Center Stage camera on the outside, and a new under-display FaceTime camera on the inner screen that records 1080p video.
- Photo features: 24MP photos by default, Photographic Styles 3 with texture and grain controls, Smart HDR 5, Night mode, portraits and Camera Control.
- Foldable-only features: Smart Take takes photos automatically when people pose, Duo Preview shows the live preview on the outer screen, and Kid Cue plays Peanuts animations to get children looking at the camera.
- Video: 4K Dolby Vision up to 120 fps on the Fusion Main camera, Cinematic mode up to 4K at 60 fps, Action mode, Dual Capture and Audio Mix.
- Formats: HEIF and JPEG for photos, HEVC and H.264 for video.
For context, it runs on the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone 18 Pro. It comes in Star White and Night Sky, and starts at $1,999 in the US.
What iPhone Duo doesn’t do
This is the part that matters most for editing. iPhone Duo does not have:
- ProRAW: photos are saved as HEIF or JPEG.
- ProRes or ProRes RAW: video is recorded in HEVC or H.264.
- Apple Log or Apple Log 2: there’s no Log recording, so every clip is standard video.
- A telephoto camera: the 2x option comes from the Main camera’s sensor.
ProRAW, ProRes, ProRes RAW and Apple Log 2 are iPhone 18 Pro features, and our iPhone 18 Pro Apple Log explainer covers what they mean for creators.
“For editing, iPhone Duo is a HEIF, JPEG and standard-video camera. Pick presets and LUTs for that, not for Log or RAW.”
Lightroom presets for iPhone Duo photos
Because the Duo saves photos as HEIF or JPEG, you want presets that are tuned for processed phone photos rather than flat RAW files. RAW-first presets tend to push contrast and saturation too far on a phone photo that’s already been processed by Smart HDR and the Photonic Engine.
That’s exactly what the iPhone Everyday Lightroom Presets are for. It’s a pack of 10 .xmp presets for Lightroom mobile and desktop, with clean, warm, soft and film-inspired looks. It costs $18 USD, and you don’t need a Pro iPhone, a paid app or RAW files. They’re the same presets we recommend in our best Lightroom presets for iPhone 18 Pro guide, and they work the same way on Duo photos.
How to use presets on iPhone Duo
- Shoot as normal in the Camera app. The 24MP default is fine for sharing. Switch to 48MP when you want to crop in or print.
- Open the free Lightroom mobile app and import your photo. HEIF and JPEG both work.
- Tap a preset from the Everyday pack, then adjust the amount, exposure or white balance if the shot needs it.
- Save it back to your camera roll, or keep editing on the big screen.
Tips that are specific to the Duo
- Edit on the inner screen. The 7.6-inch inner display makes it much easier to judge skin tones, horizons and small details before you save. The outer 5.4-inch screen is fine for quick fixes.
- Keep Photographic Styles neutral if you plan to use presets. Styles 3 bakes a look into your photo. If you also add a preset, you’re stacking two looks. Choose one or the other for the most predictable result.
- Use Smart Take and Duo Preview for group shots, then batch the same preset across the set so everyone looks consistent.
- Ultra Wide and macro shots often need a small exposure or white balance nudge after the preset. That’s normal.
Where the Master Collection fits
The Duo doesn’t shoot ProRAW, so you don’t need a RAW-focused pack for it. If you also shoot RAW on a camera or a Pro iPhone, The Master Collection is worth a look. It has 46 presets across four packs for RAW and JPEG, it includes iPhone Everyday, and it costs $65 USD.
LUTs for iPhone Duo video: match the LUT to the footage
Here’s the key thing: iPhone Duo records standard video, not Log. It records 4K Dolby Vision video, Cinematic mode and Action mode, all in HEVC or H.264. Your Duo clips will come out of the camera looking bright and colorful, not flat and gray.
That means our iPhone Apple Log LUTs are not the right pack for Duo. Those LUTs convert flat Apple Log footage, so on normal video they’d make it far too contrasty and saturated. Our Apple Log vs Apple Log 2 guide explains the difference between flat Log footage and standard video in more detail.
What works instead is the iPhone Cinematic LUTs: 10 .cube LUTs built for standard iPhone video. They soften the harsh digital look and add film-inspired color, and they cost $29 USD. They load in any app that reads .cube files, including DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, LumaFusion, VN and CapCut desktop. CapCut mobile can’t load .cube files.
How to grade iPhone Duo video with LUTs
- Record normally. 4K at 24, 30 or 60 fps is a good all-round choice. Keep 120 fps for slow motion.
- Check HDR. Duo records in Dolby Vision HDR, and the LUTs are made for standard (Rec.709) video. Either let your editor convert the clip to SDR/Rec.709 first, or turn off HDR Video before you shoot in Settings › Camera › Record Video.
- Import the .cube files into your editor, add the clip, and apply one LUT. Step-by-step instructions for each app are in our LUT installation guide.
- Fine-tune exposure or saturation, and use the same LUT across a sequence so it looks consistent.
If you want a full Log and ProRes workflow for serious grading, that’s an iPhone 18 Pro feature. Our Apple Log LUTs for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max guide covers it in full.
iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro for creators
If editing flexibility is your main reason for upgrading, here’s how they compare:
- Choose iPhone Duo if you want the biggest iPhone screen for editing and viewing, fun foldable camera features like Duo Preview and Smart Take, and a pocketable phone. Presets and standard-video LUTs are the right tools.
- Choose iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max if you need a telephoto camera (up to 8x optical-quality zoom), ProRAW, ProRes or Apple Log 2 for heavy grading.
Either way, the photo side works the same: the iPhone Everyday Lightroom Presets work on both phones. For the video side, match the LUTs to your footage. Standard clips get the Cinematic LUTs, and Log clips from an 18 Pro get the Apple Log LUTs.
