iPhone 18 Pro + Apple Log: What Creators Need to Know

If you are waiting on the next iPhone Pro launch and wondering whether your Apple Log workflow still makes sense, here is the short, facts-only version.

Apple Log is a flat color profile available on iPhone Pro models. The image looks gray and low contrast straight out of camera, and that is intentional. You keep more highlight and shadow detail than standard iPhone video, then bring the color back in post with a LUT.

Right now, Apple Log (and Apple Log 2 where your phone and app support it) is available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Non-Pro iPhones cannot record Apple Log.

What about iPhone 18 Pro and Apple Log 2?

Apple’s next hardware event is expected around 9 September 2026. Until Apple confirms the exact video profiles on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at launch, do not assume a brand-new Log format or that 18 Pro will only shoot Log 2.

What we do know is practical: this pack is built for Apple Log and Apple Log 2. Whichever of those profiles your Pro records — including whatever Apple ships on 18 Pro — you are covered. If Apple announces something entirely new beyond Log / Log 2, we will test and update clearly. Until then, stick to the profiles Apple has already named.

Why Pro models matter

Apple Log is a Pro feature. If you are on a regular iPhone, or you are shooting with the normal Camera look (already colorful and contrasty), you are not in Log. Log is only useful when the clip is actually flat and gray.

A quick check: play the clip. Flat, gray, low contrast → Apple Log or Apple Log 2. Normal, colorful Camera-app look → not Log.

Which pack should you buy?

Match the footage, not just the phone in your pocket.

  • Flat Apple Log / Apple Log 2 footage → buy the iPhone Apple Log LUTs. These convert flat Log into clean, cinematic Rec.709 color with one click in apps that load a .cube file.
  • Normal (non-Log) iPhone video → buy the iPhone Cinematic LUTs instead. The Apple Log pack will not grade regular Camera-app clips correctly, because those clips are already processed in-camera.

You can shoot Apple Log as ProRes or HEVC. The color result with these LUTs is the same either way. Desktop editors like DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and CapCut desktop all work; CapCut mobile cannot load .cube files. Our LUT installation guide walks through each app.

Day-one readiness for iPhone 18 Pro

If iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max records Apple Log or Apple Log 2 on day one, the iPhone Apple Log LUT pack is already the pack to use. That is the same advice we give for iPhone 15 Pro through iPhone 17 Pro Max today.

Now that the phones are out, our guide to Apple Log LUTs for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max walks through choosing a LUT and applying it app by app.
