The workflow

Five steps. Same on phone and desktop.

Works in Lightroom Mobile, Lightroom on desktop, and Lightroom Classic. Names below match Adobe’s current Edit panels.

  1. Apply a preset

Open your photo. In Lightroom Mobile, tap Presets and choose a Ypresets look. On desktop, open the Presets panel and click the preset. The look lands in one tap.

  2. Dial Amount

Right after you apply, use the Amount slider to scale the whole preset — tone, color, grain, everything together. Too strong? Pull back to 60–80%. Too soft? Push toward 100%.

  3. Fine-tune Light

Open Light (Mobile) or the Basic panel (desktop). Nudge Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, and Shadows so the photo matches the scene you remember.

  4. Color, HSL, and masks

Warm or cool with Temp and Tint. Use Color Mixer (HSL) for individual hues. For a bright sky, open Masking → Select Sky or a Linear Gradient, then ease Exposure or Dehaze in that mask only.

  5. Sync across a set

Happy with one frame? Copy the settings and paste onto the rest of the shoot, or use Sync / Previous on desktop so a whole set shares the same look.

Need the files on your phone or computer first? Start with the install guide — then come back here to apply and fine-tune.

Quick fixes

When the look needs a nudge.

Common tweaks after a preset. Keep them small — the preset already did the heavy lifting.

Too dark

Lift Exposure

Raise Exposure a little, or open Shadows. If the whole look feels heavy, lower Amount first.

Too warm

Cool Temp

Slide Temp toward blue, or ease Tint off magenta. Color Mixer Oranges can also calm skin and brick.

Skin tones

Oranges & Reds

In Color Mixer, adjust Orange / Red Hue and Saturation. Keep luminance gentle so skin stays natural.

Bright sky

Mask the sky

Use Masking → Select Sky or a Linear Gradient from the top. Drop Exposure or add Dehaze only in that mask.
